Loving Nude!

I LOVE when I find the perfect shade of lipstick or gloss you know the kind that goes with your favorite eyeshadow or blush. However, there are times you want to be neutral and natural and let's face it nude is in and I have been searching for my nude with no luck! But... I finally found it and I love being NUDE :)
It's from NARS and it's called Little Darling (I love the name)
I actually think this is the first lipstick I have purchased by NARS I have several lip glosses but no lipstick and I am in L-O-V-E!!!! The texture is great and it sort of has a citrusy scent so no gross taste for being a lipstick!

This is swatch of what it looks like and it actually does look more nude on the lips. It is a really great color!

Oh and just an FYI on this particular color if you want this one it is from their holiday collection so... it probably is limited everytime I find something I LOVE it's limited so... if you want this one you better go get it!

Now for some music:

Rihanna's new CD LOUD is out and it is FAB!!! I love every single song I seriously can't pick one song to choose as a favorite because I love the whole thing!!! Take a listen to this upbeat CD!

Harper Blynn last post I shared a video of these guys since then I have purchased this CD this band is so so so GOOD! Again I love the whole CD so just buy it :)

I went and saw this movie a bit cheesy but the music, makeup, hair, and clothes FAB!
The music especially was SO good I went right out and bought the soundtrack! I have been listening to it ever since, so even if the movie is not for you the music is!!!

Mr. Greg Laswell

Friday I saw Greg Laswell and it was so fun! I have seen him once before but he was the opening act and this time he was the star of the show and I don't know if being the star of the show made it better but it was SO GOOD! But he also seemed to be so much more cheery and witty :) He sang all the songs I hoped he sing and more.
He really is such a great artist he plays the piano, guitar, and his voice is heaven!!!
There were some opening acts some good some HORRIBLE!
The first was Dustin Christensen he played the guitar well and had a great voice but so not entertaining :)
The second was this HORRIBLE band called the Yarrow I mean they were terrible everything from the singing to the dancing.
The third was WONDERFUL and made enduring the first two OK because I love discovering new music and you can tell they love what they do and they really got me excited for Greg to come out!!! They were called Harper Blynn and look and them...

They really were a lot of fun to listen too and I basically loved all of their songs I bought one of their Cd's it only has 5 songs on it but... I've been listening to it over and over.
I am so glad I found this... they covered Beyonce's Halo and it was AWESOME!

I had a fun night with friends and wonderful music!

Polish

I have an OBSESSION with nail polish when I buy one I generally will buy two because I can't decide what color to buy :) Whenever I go to the beauty supply it is rare I leave the store without a new polish color! My 2 new colors are FAB and I thought I would share.

First up Rising Star by OPI and I think it's the perfect color for November and your Thanksgiving Feast! I think it's the perfect orange and it has little specks of gold just the perfect touch! I think this is the perfect color for the holiday! I haven't worn this yet I'm waiting to wear it closer to Thanksgiving but... I'm really excited for it!

Next is Sparkle-Icious also from OPI I was drawn to this because well... I love sparkle and glitter and it was the whole package: Glitter, Colorful, and FUN!
This is from a collection they made based off the movie Burlesque so... no wonder there is so much glitz and glam. They had so many other great colors in the collection I am so tempted to go back for more, and I probably will :)
I just put this on tonight and I LOVE it a lot!!! 1 coat there was a little sparkle, 2 coats more sparkle, 3 coats was the perfect amount of sparkle for me :)

Grace Kelly

The other night was Girls Night... we kept it low and went to dinner then watched a movie. The girls said we should watch Rear Window with Grace Kelly. Now I LOVE Grace Kelly but had no idea what Rear Window is, it was pretty good. There was a lot of chatter throughout the movie because we are girls so... it's hard to just watch the movie especially with a beauty like this:

Look at her porcelain skin, her perfect shaped lips, nose, awesome bone structure... I could go on and on. Seriously she is a DREAM! She is a classic beauty and her style umm... well it's the BEST!!!

Check out just a few of these dresses from the movie... one cannot resist stopping to talk about how beautiful they are!!!

I love this print and the classic pearl necklace but most of all check out the bag she is holding it is BEAUTIFUL I love love love it!!!

I love this dress the V-Neck top and the belt to accentuate her waist are perfect and I think it's the perfect simple black dress.

Last but not least...

This dress is just FAB that's all and the bracelet ohh... I am in love!!! I really don't know what else to say :)

I know everyone is not into older movies but Disturbia is a re-make of this movie so that may peak your interest and even if you don't watch it to watch it the clothes, and hair are so fun!!!

Eye Lash Extensions

I have been wanting to get eye lash extensions for about a year now and finally I found the right place the right extentionist and I had the cash to do it. I was so excited when I could finally do it!!! There are so many places to get them done and so many different prices that it makes it so hard to decide where to go but... I know I made the right decision.
Here are my before pictures:

Now I know I have somewhat long lashes already but for me when doing makeup applying mascara is what takes me the longest so really I just want to take that step away completely and that's what the lash extensions do.
When I reviewed what I wanted I told her I wanted them to still be pretty natural, I have a pretty almond shaped eye already so she was going to just go with that shape just bulk it up, and add some length so I won't have to apply mascara.
She said she used Large and Extra Large lashes.

Here is the after:

Where I went they charge $99-$200 for your first set and the range is depending on how dramatic you want you lashes. A fill would be $50.00. You need them filled every 2-4 weeks depending on your natural lashes and how often they fall out.

This Saturday I will have them 4 weeks and I am actually surprised by how good they still look!!! I do think I will get them filled in the next week.

This was something I really have been wanting and this is something that is well worth the money... it really has cut my time in half getting ready in the morning and on top of that when running late all you need to worry about is your face because your eyes look ready already it's awesome!
The maintenance is something I was a little bit worried about but... really it's not bad you just have to keep them free of oils, you can wear makeup as normal but when you remove it you wash around them, you brush them with just a clean mascara wand.
If you are interested in them at all or aren't sure if you could stand them maybe try wearing fake lashes... now they are completely different but... you can see and feel what it would be like!!!

Shout Out!

To the FABULOUS Ingrid Michaelson!

I went to her concert last night and it was WONDERFUL! I have always loved her from the moment I heard her song on the Old Navy commercial years ago and her music gets better and better with each album.
She has come to Salt Lake at least 2 times before this and I have not been able to go and I was not going to miss it this time.
She is wonderful live and she is so FUNNY! I strongly suggest to those of you who don't know her music to at least give her a try she is so great and you won't regret it!

Her opening act was the Guggenheim Grotto- they were AWESOME as well I am definitely going to pick up their album. I had been sampling their music on Pandora yesterday before the concert and they sounded good but... nothing like hearing them live to make you want to actually buy it :)

THANK YOU Ingrid for a wonderful night!

Everyone should indulge!

Favorites of the Day!

So... I decided that on Monday's I am going to post my latest obsessions! I am always excited about something I have: read, listened to, tried, or bought so... why not share them a little more often!

I am currently in the hunt for a new do so while in the search I have come across some lovely do's that I think are defiantly a go!!!

Long Hair:

This is a long cut with textured layers with split bangs. The color is a warm brown with carmel highlights. I love this because the layers add volume to the normal straight long cut and the highlights add extra dimension it's a fun look and just adding the layers and few highlights will make your regular look feel updated and modern.
Just a note those of you who have had bangs and have decided to grow them out the split bang is a great way to go during the process.

Medium Hair:

Ok now this cut is a bob with some curl at the bottom. But the color WOW I love this and I know it's obvious it's not for everyone but... it is GORGEOUS and so fun especially for those pale blue eyed girls! I would die for this and the combo with the bob and the color is WONDERFUL it's like the bob is retro while the red keeps it feeling modern.

Short:

I love the the pixie!!! This one particular is a bit longer and looks like it is brushed over to the one side. I really think you have to have a certain confidence to pull off a pixie but... it is a beautiful thing! I would totally have a pixie if I was daring enough!

Up do:

I love the pony especially this one! The front and top have tons of volume while the back is smooth and gently curled right into place! I love that you could wear this to work then go out as well it's a fun retro inspired look and super easy that is the key word here EASY!

In my previous post I talked about some upcoming fall makeup, one of which was a lipstick by hourglass. Well I gave in and bought it, the UPS man delivered it today, and it is LOVE!!! The color is just as described, it's a rich berry color and it went on so smoothly. The bottle is super pretty and apparently the case is refillable so I think that's exciting when I run out I can get that color again or try something new?! This was my first purchase from hourglass it was fast delivery and I am so excited to try more products from them.
Here's a link to their website:
http://www.hourglasscosmetics.com/index.php?type=lips&item=lips_femmerouge

I have always liked Sara Barielles but I really am looking forward to her new CD! I have only heard 2 songs from the CD: King of Anything which I really like but.. last week on Twitter she released this gem:
http://web.epicrecords.com/sarabareilles/wholefoods/
This song is AMAZING and this is the kind of music that moves me and I know that sounds so weird but I LOVE music this song makes me so excited to heard what else she has done. The 2songs I have heard are different from her previous CD and I think it is going to be so awesome. Her CD Kaleidoscope Heart is expected to come out 09/07/10. So... run out and get it when it comes out it is going to be a great one.

Quick Favorites:
Polish: Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous
Music: Steve Moakler

InStyle

One of my favorite magazines is InStyle and I love their website too it is easy access and totally keeps me up to date on what is to come and what is currently "InStyle" :)

I was reading through the website today and found some great and fun tips for what's happening in fall and what will be in.

Falls Easiest Hair Styles:

I think the hair is AWESOME so easy and no fuss @ all I love this!!!
I love the undone Chignon I so can't do it because my hair is short but... I love the Chignon!
I love the Retro-Inspired Ponytail I think it looks BEAUTIFUL... now I am a pony girl and somehow they have made it look so elegant ahh... I love love love it!
Last you can never go wrong w/ soft, bouncy curls and I really think short or long you can pulls this look off.

Shades to Wear:

So... it's no secret I LOVE makeup and seriously as I was going through each section I wanted everything I wanted @ least one thing from each section that they suggest.
But... I will just review the things I really really want from the berry lips section I want the Hourglass Femme Rouge Lipstick in Nocturnal I have been wanting to try a product from Hourglass for so long and this product may be it, I have heard a lot of great things about this brand and this particular lipstick has gotten a lot of great reviews the lipstick is 30.00 though so, that is my only dilemma that is kind of a lot for lipstick. Next I want to try Tarina Tarantino's Magic Hour Smudge Pen in Jet this goes along with the heavy black eyeliner section I think this product looks so awesome I am definitely going to try it out... super EXCITED. Last item I want to get goes along with the mixed metal eyes and I want to get the Urban Decay Naked Palette I have been wanting this for several months but... this just confirms I need it really hehe!

The Bargains You Need to Have:
http://www.instyle.com/instyle/package/general/photos/0,,20409313_20401655,00.html

This is a great link and has some fun stuff such as: Le Metier De Béaute Nail Lacquer, Living Proof Full Shampoo & Conditioner- this shampoo and conditioner looks awesome it's supposed to help fine limp hair seem more full and not look so stringy and they are only 10.00 each that is an awesome deal!!! I love a good shimmer and they showed these Target Shimmer Highlight Duo for 15.00 I may have to indulge in one of these, this looked like a great alternative to the Urban Decay pallet: Pop Beauty Naked Smolder Eyeshadow Palette for 10.00 so... it is a great deal! Just to name a few!

Fun Makeup Tips

Here are some fun Makeup Tips:

The 5 Minute Face:
Put on your Base, powder or tinted moisturizer whatever it is you prefer
Blush
Mascara
Lip Gloss

Turn the 5 Minute Face into A Night Look:
Add some eye shadow, liner, and Lipstick or just add eye liner and some lipstick.

Best Colors for Each Eye Color:

BROWN EYES:
Greens, champagnes, bronzes, gold’s, browns and blues are just some of the shades that play beautifully with brown eyes. You can also try shades of beige, peach, corals, copper, pinks, pale purples (pinky purples) and browns. Brown eyes also look great in grey, plums as well as burnt oranges. The intensity of color you wear depends on your skin tone. The lighter the skin tone, the less intense color you would use. The same rule applies to darker skin tones.

BLUE EYES:
Try a “ browny orange “ Also, taupe, gray, violet, purple, deep blue, silver. To emphasize blue eyes use brown and rose shadows. Warm hues will contrast the coldness of blue eyes, making them really pop. Don't go for aqua or cerulean shades that will compete with your blue color. Go with a very different-colored shadow for an eye-opening contrast.

GREEN EYES:
Pimento brown – this contains a subtle red undertone that is cooled & tamed by the dominating brown. Many women with green eyes have fair skin and freckles. If you have a light complexion, try to avoid eye shadow that is too deep or shimmery. However, some women with green eyes have olive skin. These women should avoid silver and blue shadows. All women with green eyes look great in brown colors from light beiges to deep chocolate browns. Purples and pinks also complement with green eyes. Some people will suggest that you shouldn't wear green shadow if you have green eyes. However, light green can be very flattering when applied sparingly.

HAZEL EYES:
Go toward more neutral colors such as brown. Gold, pink, lavender, plum, khaki and mocha are great ones too. Purple shades contrast your color, making eyes look dramatic. Warmer shades of mocha complement the green hue in hazel eyes, giving a natural effect. Soft pink is another good color. It is irresistible for a romantic look. Another great, vibrant color to use is a teal hue.

Primer... my FAV!!!

It's been a while I know today I will talk about my most favorite item in my makeup kit that is... Primer. This is something I never knew about until a few years ago and when I tried it this product changed my life and I'm not being dramatic it really did change my life!!! You put primer on after moisturizer but before base it does basically in easy terms what paint primer does for paint on walls. It helps eliminate any patches or helps smooth over your face to help keep the paint on or in makeup terms your base or powder if you only wear powder on longer/all day.
It really helps eliminate pores and helps so base applies a lot smoother.
I really have only tried 2 kinds of primer but both I love.

First is MAC's Prep+Prime this is the first primer I ever tried and the first time I fell in love and I must say I am still a die hard fan! This stuff is AMAZING! It looks a like lotion but once applied you don't know it's on and it's hard to kind of explain but once applied you know your skin is protected and it works just like glue to keep your base on all day! I still love this stuff.
MAC's website's description of the product is:
An ultra-fluid lotion formulated with special-effect silicones. Calms and soothes the skin, blots away excess oil, and evens out skin redness. Improves the laydown and application of foundation or powder.
This product is $25.00 you don't use very much per application and can last 6-9 months or longer depending on how often you use it.
Available @ Nordstroms or http://www.maccosmetics.com/

This is the next primer I have used I love it just as much I feel it works just as well as MAC's product and don't you just love the name... That Gal it's so fun!!! I feel when I put this on not only does it help keep my base on but my face gets kind of a glow to it. And who does not want a glow right???
Benefit Cosmetics site says:
Our silky pink primer takes your complexion from dull to darling! Simply smooth on for the look of brighter, smoother skin.
To help re-brighten your complexion throughout the day, gently pat on.
This costs 28.00 so the price is pretty comparable and again little is needed to go around so the product should last you about 6 months or longer depending on how often used. I have not used this product as much so I am not 100% sure on how long it will last.
Available @ Ulta or www.http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/gp/node/n/164953011/188-0495365-8572767?ie=UTF8&bcBrand=core

Because I am a primer girl I use this basically with every application with base. I can tell when I have not used primer as I feel my base comes off quicker during the day! I know there are many other brands out there with similar products these are just a few that I have tried, if you have not tried primer you should go buy some it is definitely worth the money!!!
